🎱The Masters Snooker on the telly recently is really inspiring these girls! 💗Kris and the young women had elevenses at Pizza Express this morning. Some of the young women were able to order their own drinks and snacks. 💗They were able to advocate for themselves to ask for "no ice" etc. 💗 Receiving the wrong drinks order enabled the group to discuss how to manage situations like this. 🍕We will be holding an Ad hoc Pizza Frenzy Session at Pizza Express, Guildford High Street, Surrey 📅Date: Tuesday 17th February 26 (half term week) 🕰️Time: 10:30am-12.30pm 👧🏽Age Group: 10-14 years for existing APPEER beneficiaries 💷Cost: £25.00 General ticket/ £20.00 Concessionary ticket ✅Bookings are now open via Coacha On arrival, girls will meet with APPEER staff and the Pizza chef and put on their aprons, wash their hands and have access to some ice-breaking activities and a few sensory toys. Pizza making fun includes making your own bases and choosing your toppings. Girls wait for their pizzas to cook, enjoy some dough balls and some Pizza art with Kris and Nicki. The pizzas will be boxed up and the girls can eat their pizzas in the restaurant. If they don't finish their pizzas, they can take them home with them. NB: The restaurant does not open until 11.30 am for the public so the girls will have the restaurant to themselves for an hour of the Session. Parent Carers: Once dropped off, Parent/Carers are invited to join our Parent/Carer Facilitator off site at a local coffee shop, just round the corner from Pizza Express.

Since 2019 we’ve grown from a small start-up to a thriving organisation reaching over 400 beneficiaries a year — and we’re now looking for a Finance Manager to help steer our next stage of growth. 🔢This is a hands-on and strategic role. You’ll be responsible for keeping our day-to-day finances running smoothly (payroll, VAT returns, invoicing, Xero bookkeeping) while also acting as our financial lead — shaping budgets, forecasting, managing financial risk, and advising our Board on sustainability. 💓You’ll be joining a small, committed team and working closely with our CEO and Finance Committee. 🔍Kris and Lindsey welcomed our young women on to the first Explore Session of term yesterday. 🍵After a quick catch up in the cafe they set off to get to know Woking Town Centre with a walk around the town. 👮🏽‍♀️Kris had done some detective work and knew that the security guards in the shopping centre had autism training so was able to talk to the group about how the security guards can assist them if needed. 🍔The group visited the Food court and street food market and noticed that even though there is a lot of bustle and smells in one place there can be ways to enjoy those areas.... and escape from them when required! 👚The walk around the shopping centre sparked conversations about which shops the group liked and disliked - this lead to valuable sharing of each individual's likes and dislikes around music, fashion and art. 🚌🚅Next week - we are exploring the train and bus station https://appeer.org.uk/weekday-young-women-s-group #PeerGroup #autisticgirls #autisticwomen #ActuallyAutistic #autismawareness #surrey #woking#EHCP #alternativeprovision #Send #hampshire #berkshire #westsussex #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #AuADHD #senparent #senparenting

🎨Last week Surrey's All-Age Autism team hosted an amazing art workshop for the Appeer community. 🗣️The All-Age Autism Strategy have a project focusing on Gender & Sexuality and the links with neurodiversity, specifically autism. The team are currently working with LGBTQ+ autistic people and their families to create an online resource centred around lived experience in schools where young people can anonymously tell their stories. To help young people express themselves in a creative way, they have been hosting a number of art workshops. 💓Last week's workshop supported young people from Appeer to create a piece of artwork that explored what their gender and sexuality means to them. The artwork may be included, anonymously, on the Surrey All-Age Autism Strategy website and in resources for LGBTQ+ neurodivergent young people which will be added to the site over the next year. ❗*BREAKING NEWS*❗ 🗺️The new Appeer Explore Programme - weekly sessions for Autistic Young Women is open for registrations! ✅From January 2026 we will be adding a new range of activities to our Weekday Young Women's Programme. The Programme will be called the Explore Programme. ⏰This is a weekly group session for autistic young women aged rising 18 to 25. The activities will support our young people to increase their confidence and independence. As ever, this will be done in a very gentle and supported way. ☕The Explore Group will be based at The COSY coffee shop in Woking every Monday from 10.30am to 12.30pm. This is a lovely venue where we can base the Group before exploring the town centre and other public spaces or doing activities at our table in the coffee shop. 🎉Some other good news, if you are planning on self-funding, is that we have secured a grant which can subsidise the fees for you. This led to young people to feeling like they couldn’t express themselves in that environment. The team are currently working with LGBTQ+ autistic people and their families to create an online resource centred around lived experience in schools where young people can anonymously tell their stories, (if they wish).
